About the school
Newtowne School is a Reggio-inspired parent cooperative preschool located in Harvard Square. We are founded in the belief that children find meaning and joy through play. Our experienced teachers create a nurturing play-based learning environment that facilitates this journey. Teachers work in true partnership with parents (who share the responsibilities for daily assistance in the classroom) to understand and support each child. Newtowne School has four classrooms that serve children ages 2 to 5 years. The staff includes eight teachers, an art teacher (Aterlierista), a full-time float teacher and a director. The school operates on an academic school year and offers a summer session. The early childhood position is full-time during the academic year. Joining the summer session staff is optional.
